Insulation/Mechanical Integrity Check List

Y      N     1. Is your cold pipe and vessel insulation over six years old?

Y      N     2. Does your piping and vessel system have temperatures that swing above and below dew point temperatures?

Y      N     3. Is the vapor barrier on your pipe and vessel insulation in less than perfect condition?

Y      N     4. Have you had any repairs done to your piping or vessel system that were not re-insulated immediately?

Y      N     5. Are there any visible signs of ice or water formation on the outside of the vapor barrier or jacketing on your piping or vessels?

Y      N     6. Does your insulation look good from the outside but you have not done any internal inspection of the insulation for moisture or corrosion in the last 5 years?

Y      N     7. Does the aluminum jacketing on your pipe and vessel insulation have spots forming on the surface that look like small worms?

Y      N     8. Does your piping or vessel insulation have only a PVC or aluminum jacket with out a separate vapor barrier under it?

Y      N     9. Is any part of your cold piping system shutdown for extended periods of time?

Y      N     10. Is your cold piping system exposed to wash downs or high humidity?

If you answer yes to any of the questions above you are at high risk for corrosion under insulation and excessive thermal loss. An Insul-Dry Dry air injection system will save you money and help prevent unwanted plant shutdowns and possible fines due to non compliance with OSHA Mechanical integrity requirements.
